ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE: A LEARNING SOLUTION IN SECONDARY SCHOOLS IN RURAL COMMUNITIES IN SOUTH–EAST ZONE, NIGERIA
Abstract
This paper explored the emergence of Artificial Intelligence (AI) as a learning solution in rural community secondary schools in South East Zone Nigeria. It is obvious that most of the secondary schools located in rural communities are faced with challenges of inadequacy of basic infrastructural facilities, quality teachers instructional materials among others. These challenges to a large extent have been impediment to quality of education output. The need to erupt changes for effectiveness and efficiency in education delivery gave raise to the efforts in adoption of artificial intelligence to close the existing gap in learning situation between the urban and rural schools. The growth of artificial intelligence (AI) has posed challenges and yet offers opportunities for improvement in education delivery. The adoption and use of AI has been heralded as the 4th Industrial Revolution. The paper therefore discussed artificial intelligence in education, types of Artificial Intelligence, availability of AI-ready Infrastructure for learning in Rural Community secondary Schools in South-East Zone, Nigeria, Artificial Intelligence Limitations on learning solutions and Artificial Intelligence as a Learning Solution in secondary schools in Rural Communities South-East Zone, Nigeria. The paper concluded that AI-based digital technologies offer great potentials of transforming education in rural community secondary in South East Zone Nigeria by providing an interactive platform for learners and teachers interaction beyond the traditional face-to-face approach.
